New Tefal Steam Generator Iron

Before I got married, I always have nice ironed clothes in my wardrobe. Would ironed once a week and needn't worry about crumpled clothes for the next working day.

After I got married, I had to iron my hubby's clothes as well as mine. From that day onwards, his wardrobe has ironed nice clothes as usual but mine were always crumpled (only iron before going out). Why? Because I still iron once a week and there were too many to iron. (Before we were married, he sent all his clothes for laundry service) I was too 'kind' and 'wife-minded', wanted to save money so I told him to let me handle his clothes and stopped sending them to the laundry.

In the end, I REGRETTED! He compared my ironing skill with the professional laundry service. "The shirt must have lines at this part, same as here. Cannot be too 'flat'. The sleeves are still a bit crumpled, blah blah blah" After months of 'torturing', I got so fed up and told him that I 'quit'. A job with No pay, no 'thank you' only received 'complaints complaints complaints' is not that great after all.

So, back to square one. The laundry boss got her client back again! She even gave us special offer with happy smile every time she sees us!

Therefore, I just need to worry my own clothes. Grin~

Those were history happened in Kuching. After we moved to Miri, we had hard time looking for a good & cheap laundry service. Since I was pregnant and 'jobless', I took back the old donkey job again. This time, he had lesser complaint and I was the person who complaint the most.

"We need a new iron!" I suggested, after my sister-in-law showed me her new 'toy' which helped her to finish her ironing job in a faster and better way.

"The old iron has lesser steam, which took me longer time to iron your working clothes. And with my pregnant body, I had to suffer 3-4 days backache after 1 day of ironing," I complaint as this was what I had been suffered every week.

Tefal GV9360 Steam Generator Iron

After he agreed with his pity look, it was my job to search for the best price. Searched through Internet, called up several places and found out the latest model of Tefal steam generator iron I wanted (Tefal GV9360 Steam Generator Iron) is still not available in Malaysia. The 'latest' model in Malaysia (which is GV8360) is cheapest in KL (as usual) and to send over to Miri, will need extra RM300.

Was thinking to get my sister and a friend to get the latest model in Australia, as the prices in US, UK or in Australia are so much cheaper than Malaysia, but too bad it was too heavy to bring back. Same as the thought of getting the 'second latest model' (GV8360) from KL, but the oversize iron board is a problem. After several plans which failed to work, we can only stick to the Miri 'outlet'. Pay extra for the special order, pay more for the second latest model and waited for about one month for the ship to 'crawl over'.
 Tefal GV8360 Steam Generator Iron

One week before my c-sec, my iron (GV8360) had arrived in Miri. I was pretty excited. Drove about half an hour to the distributor factory for collection, paid RM1800 in cash (They didn't trust our cheque and have to charge extra 3% for credit card).

On the same day, we started to experience our new 'toy'. I always love to explore things without reading the manual book (trial & error) whereas my hubby read the instructions slowly before I spoil it. The steam was fantastic! We started to iron the clothes even in the middle of the night.

However, the iron retired after my c-sec. My maid took over my ironing job with the old Philips. She irons once every few days for our clothes. Whenever there are places which my hubby feels not satisfy, she will iron it again and again. We haven't decided whether to let her uses the new iron because the setting is a bit complicated (different clothes material have to use different setting else might burn the clothes or leave yellow stains) and the steam is very strong, easily get 'cook' (I nearly 'cooked' my hand and fingers twice while ironing with that 'toy'.) Well, her hands are more precious than mine as the clinic/hospital charge pretty high for foreigners' treatment.)

So, my expensive 'toy' is currently in my wardrobe, enjoying her early retirement days. Just remembered her when my hubby mentioned about it last night. One of the 'toys' that never been really appreciated.

  4. Sounds like Miri is cheaper, (RM1500) just that need to pay extra RM300 for the shipping fee. BTW, I heard that if you can get it directly from the Tefal distributor in KL, u can get for about RM1300 if not mistaken. Big difference huh!
