Welcoming new buddy in the car - Big Bird

I have bought another Sesame Street character - Big Bird for my princess. She was overjoyed when I passed to her after school. For the first time, I heard her giggling and communicate with her Cookie Monsters and Big Bird together. Their imaginary friends really kept her accompany.
Children's laughter is always my best medicine! Love you, my dear!

Popular Book Fair, Miri

Very disappointed with the Popular Book Fair at Permy Mall, Miri. I was attracted by the banners along the roadside in town but was surprised to see how "big" the fair is. The books are so limited and price are not as cheap as advertised.

Well, they do have 50% and 70% off books but mostly are torn, used, old, yellowish, not functioning electronic
books.

Next to the book fair there is another small book fair organized by KK bookstore. Mainly Chinese books from China and some stationery. Expensive price too.

Not worth going at all.

Spelling Game

Opened up another new box of Spelling game for her today. There are 3-letter and 4-letter words with picture puzzle to play with. It's quite confusing especially when my girl tried to play according to the spelling letters, not looking at the picture or color. As when all the words are mixed up, there are many same letters but for different puzzle pieces. So I taught her a skill to look at both letters and picture/color. She cope pretty well and learn how to solve it accordingly. She spells all words with phonics.

It's pretty tiring to finish the whole box in one go but I had pushed her to the limit by using her favorite chocolate cookies to lure her. She agreed to finish the whole box without any complain for the reward. Hehe!

Hot-air balloon art

Another art of my girl - colorful hot-air balloon from her school. Creative!

Lo hon zai (vegetarian - mixed vegetable) 罗汉斋

Since my fridge has the ingredients of this vegetarian dish, I decided to use Thermomix to cook it according to the recipe given.

Check out the picture. Left side is the dish I have cooked for my hubby, right side is the picture of the recipe. Look similar?

Mr.Potato Man 2

After placing Mr.Potato Man on my princess's writing table for a week, she has finally accepted him.

She took it to the bed and started dismantle and tried to fix it by herself after she did some coloring in the afternoon.

I feel so happy. At least I needn't throw or give this new toy away now. Victory! ^^

First Paint Brush Salty Art

An artwork of my princess in the school. First time for her to use the "real" paintbrush and watercolor+salt. Interesting science session.

The teacher told me she did it without any teacher's help. I think she has been well-trained by the iPad app at home. Mixing color like a true artist! Lol.

Muara Restoran, Miri

First time trying the Lalapan Tenggiri (RM11) in this restaurant at the riverside. Heard that this Muara Restoran is famous. Looks yummy huh!

Is this consider a king's breakfast?! ^^

This is my 2nd time eating this Indonesian meal. Have to say that I prefer my first experience near Boulevard Shopping Mall.

Well, if you like spicy sambal, maybe you can try here. They do give generous amount of spicy sambal. The thick slices of cucumber and sweet milky teh Tarik helps to relief the numbness of the tongue.

Disappointed with the vegetable. Taste lousy. Under cook and tasteless. Like chewing raw leaves. I love vegetable but definitely not this type. Luckily there are cucumber, long beans and cabbage. (1st experience with lalapan was nice fish but lousy vegetable too. That was under cook long beans and cabbage. I wonder why both places are not good in boiling the vegetable. Or they all love raw leaves and long beans?! Or they are only for decoration?!)

The sambal is spicy and yet tempting. I ate lots of rice due to this sambal. Hmm...maybe I can understand the tasteless vegetable now but not under cook style.

Will I come back again? Hmm....not so keen for the same dish. There are other choices in the menu, maybe I will give them a try next time.

Masterpiece (2-year-old)

My 2-year-old daughter's drawing and writing without any help.

She tried to draw her idol (Elmo) and write his name too. Lol.

New friends

It's fun to have friends to play and share the toys with laughter.

Cooking time

1st day joining the holiday program. We were early so I let her warm up with the toys there.

The photos showing her chopping the vegetable and cooking food on the induction cooker seriously. ^^

Gonna pick her up at 3pm. I am very please with the extra free time I have. Haha!

Robot Toy (Gustogale)

My sister-in-law gave my girl this new robot toy to explore. It was kept in the toy box for several months as I didn't know when is the suitable time for her to play it.

My girl took this toy out and requested to open several times when she was digging her toy box for the past few months. I told her to wait and wait as I am not good in fixing robot. Hoping to wait for her father who might be 'better' in such robotic toy.

Today she took the toy and asked me to open it again. Her persistence is something I felt that I shouldn't turn down. So I have granted her wish.

To my surprise, she loves this robot! It's not that difficult to fix at all. There's a key where all parts will get dismantle once you insert in the key hole and turn clockwise.

A toy which I will not buy but surprisingly she prefers this robot to Mr.Potato Man which I bought the other day. T.T

I wonder how long will she love this robot.

35-month old reading progress

Time flies. My princess is turning 3 in a few weeks time. Sometimes I couldn't believe the running and jumping angel is my baby.

I have to say that this is the moment which I have been longing for since she was born.

When she was still an infant, I wish she can grow up fast, can hold the milk bottle by herself and burp without help.

When she can crawl, I wish she could walk and run steadily without me worrying so much.

When she starts babbling, I wish she could say out how she feels and what she wants without me guessing from her cry.

Thank God for this precious moment. The terrible 2, they said. T.T

Well, it's time to do some recording on her learning progress. I have lost count on the books she had read and also the new words she can read. She knows phonics so basically she can pronounce new words by herself before I open my mouth to teach.

For her motor skill, she can write A to Z, 1 to 20, all Chinese basic strokes by following the dotted lines. Certain letters can be written out by herself without dotted lines too.

Reading comprehension:
There are story books which come with questions and varies activities for the kid. My daughter learn to answer them after reading the stories together with me. It's a good practice and allow me to know her understanding of the stories.

Other skill:
She can color better and have great interest in solving the activities puzzle and books. She loves the matching, cross out and circling the correct answers workbooks.

Helper in the house:
-My princess loves to see me making milk. She will describe each step while watching. For e.g, first, pour in room temperature water, then some hot water. Next add in the milk powder. Cover it and shake shake shake. Very funny!
- She insist to help in getting her own diaper, wet tissue and clothing before changing.
- After drinking milk, she will make sure she can find the cover and pass it to me. Then she will place the milk bottle in the washroom.
- She learns how to clean up the mess and keep her toys. Well, sometimes she prefers not to do it and stop us from tidying up her toys as she loves to see the bed is full of her toys. (sweat*)

The sentences that amazed me:
1) This is a vegetarian dinosaur.
2) We are family. We are bonding.
3) I am watching the credits.
4) Maybe we can do this together!
5) Hmmm....I think you are right!
6) (Pointing at the thermometer which I was pressing here and there to check the battery) You are suppose to put that in your ear.
7) This is too much!
8) Let's read together.
9) I want to drink some more milk.
10) This is amazing!
11) Eureka!
12) Marvelous!
13) Fantastica!
14) A short conversation:
me: What are you doing?
gal: I am making doughnut. (using iPad)
me: What do you use?
gal: A rolling pin to make a square and cut them in circle. Now it's time to fry them!
15) What color/shape do you like?
16) This is for you, mummy. Let's share!
17) Oh no! I have stomachache! I need medicine.
18) Cookie monsters loves to eat cookies. I love to eat cookies too!

p/s: I am sorry that I couldn't upload all the books pictures with detail description like what I did last time. Using the mobile blogger app is inconvenient in certain ways as it doesn't allow such act. Netbook is down for a long time. Maybe it's time to get a new one?! (looking for sponsor. Haha!)

Disney Spell n Learn Honey Pot

Do your kids like Winnie the Pooh and Tigger? This educational toy will be worth buying for your kids if they do.

This electronic toy comes with different educational games, such as Letter Sound, Letter Order, Spelling, Counting, Music and Finding Game.

Just insert the blocks for great fun. It can helps children to improve their English listening skill too.

My gal loves this toy very much. She can spend whole day playing with it. The music are very nice. She treats it as a music player as different block plays different song.

Just make sure you are ready for the usage of the batteries. ^^

Mr.Potato Man

I hardly buy non educational toy for my girl, so I decided to get this silly toy for her creativity and motor skill development.

Too bad my girl dislikes it very much. She doesn't want to touch it at all. Sigh. I did try to play the toy in front of her and show how "fun" the toy is. She just watched a while and continued playing with her other toys. Sigh sigh.

Well, I just placed it on her writing table now. Hopefully one day she knows how to appreciate and play with it happily. Else I will have to give this new toy away. What a lesson for me!

Tefal VitaCuisine Compact

My new toy is here - Tefal VitaCuisine Compact.

Millions of thanks for my sis who had bought and brought back this wonderful food steamer for me from Australia as this model is not available in Malaysia yet.

This steamer is very different from normal food steamer as it comes with 4 glass cups and the steaming plates have no holes. This can avoid the juice/sauce/taste to get mixed up when we do multiple dishes steaming at the same time.

User manual and full color recipe come with the purchase. I will need time to study as the recipe looks so good and yummy. It hardly has vegetarian recipe though.

So now I have a Thermomix for stir fry dishes and Tefal VitaCuisine for steaming dishes. ^^

Drawing (2 yrs old)

My princess loves to draw her imaginary friends (Elmo, Grover, Cookie Monster, Telly Monster etc characters from Sesame Street).

This is one of her masterpiece.

Sunglasses

What a sunny day!

Playground in Q-Dees

After school, my princess requested to play at the 'playground'. She really enjoyed jumping and bouncing on the trampoline, running up and down the slides, busy repeating the same thing with great fun for a long time.

Look at her happy smile and apple red face after the play, seems like nothing is better than this place.

It's always good to use up her extra energy so that she can have a nice nap in the afternoon. Well, it's noon time and the sun is scorching hot. Time to go back for a nice shower and warm milk. ^^

(1st week in school. 2-yrs-7-month old).

Noddy Fun Book

A great IQ stimulation game for children. My princess loves it very much. There are two types of Noddy in the market. The original and the pirated one.

Of course the original Noddy will not be cheap and the pirated one will not be 'clear' as usual. Your choice! ^^

(2-year-7-month)

Matching game (Body Parts)

It's playtime!

Finally it's time to let my princess to try this new Learning Journey Playing Cards.

This is her first time playing this "Body Parts" set. I have bought this for months and have been waited patiently for her to play it. She was unwilling to try this challenging education game when I first showed her the box. I was disappointed and told myself to wait as its not the 'right time' for her yet. (The box stated is for age 4 onwards)

Now I am delighted on her both knowledge (know all words) and motor skill (choose and match the puzzle cards without my help).

Ok. Time to let go this new playing card set and move on. (2-year-10-month old)
